The Angel Cried (children's choir)
Our children's choir (with some adults joining in!) practicing for the Pascha liturgy
The angel cried to the Lady Full of Grace: Rejoice, O Pure Virgin!
Again I say: Rejoice!
Your Son is risen from His three days in the tomb!
With Himself He has raised all the dead!
Rejoice, all you people!
Shine! Shine! O New Jerusalem!
The Glory of the Lord has shone on you!
Exalt now and be glad, O Zion!
Be radiant, O Pure Theotokos,
in the Resurrection of your Son!

9th ode of the canon for the feast of the Presentation of Christ (minus the troparia that should be inserted after the later verses). Sung by the members of our homeschool co-op choir. 1. That which came to pass in thee * we in no wise comprehend, * not the Angels, nor we men, * O thou Virgin Mother pure. 2. Righteous Elder Simeon * now embraceth in his arms * both the Author of the Law * and t...

It is being published by Basilian Media and Publishing, which is the publishing arm of the St. Basil Center for Orthodox Thought and Culture. You can buy your copy here: patternsforlife.org If you pre-order now the price will be lower than when it g...
Rejoice O Bethany

Rejoice, O Bethany! Rejoice, rejoice, O Bethany! On this day God came to thee, And in Him the dead are made alive, As it is right for He is the Life. When Martha went to receive Him, Grieving loudly with bitter tears, She poured out the sorrow of her heart to Him With great sadness, wailing her lament. She at once cried out unto Him: “My most compassionate Lord, my Lord, At the great loss of my...

O Lord I have cried (Byzantine Tone 1)
Beautiful well done! I learnt this psalm while in Braithwaite, by the hills and the lakes and the vales! (Only going down the zo is lowered.)
Psalm 140(141) 1^O Lord I have cried out unto Thee. Hear Thou me. Hear Thou me O Lord. O Lord I have cried out unto Thee; hear Thou me. Give ear to the voice of my supplication when I cry out unto Thee. Hear Thou me O Lord. 2^Let my prayer be set forth before Thee as the incense and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Hear Thou me O Lord. 3^Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth and a door round-a-bout my lips. 4^Incline not my heart to evil words to make excuses in sins. 5^With men that work iniquity, and I will not communicate with the choicest of them. 6^The just man shall correct me in mercy and shall reprove me, but let not the oil of the sinner anoint my head. 7^For my prayer also shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased, their judges falling upon the rock have been swallowed up. 8^They shall hear my words for they are sweet. As when the thickness of the earth is broken up upon the ground, their bones are scattered by the side of hell. 9^But to Thee, O Lord, Lord are mine eyes: in thee have I put my trust; take not away my soul. 10^Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me and the traps of the workers of iniquity. 11^Let the wicked fall into thy own nets, while I alone escape. Psalm 141(142) 1^I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication. 2^I poured out my supplication before Him; I showed before Him my trouble. 3^When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then Thou knewest my path. 4^In the way wherein I walked have they secretly laid a snare for me. 5^I looked on my right hand and beheld, but there was no one that would know me; 6^refuge failed me. No one cared for my soul. 7^ I cried unto Thee, O Lord; I said Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. 8^Attend unto my cry for I am brought very low. 9^Deliver me from my persecutors for they are stronger than I. 10^Bring my soul out of prison that I may praise Thy name! 11^The righteous shall wait for me, until Thou recompense me. Psalm 129(130) 1*Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O Lord; Lord hear my voice. 2^Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. 3^If Thou, O Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who should stand? But with Thee there is forgiveness, that Thou mayest be feared. 4^Because of Thy name, have I waited for the O Lord; my soul hath waited upon Thy word; my soul hath hoped in the Lord. 5^From the morning watch until night, from the morning watch let Israel trust in the Lord. 6^For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption, and He will deliver Israel from all his iniquities. Psalm 117(118) 1^Praise the Lord all ye nations; praise Him all ye peoples. 2^For his mercy is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endureth forever. Glory Be Prayer Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Both now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen. Theotokion, The Praises of Mary Let’s sing the praises of Mary the virgin. Door of heaven, glory of all the world. Sprung forth from man, who also didst bare the Lord. The song of the bodiless powers and the enriching of the faithful. And she did reveal feel herself as heaven and the temple of the godhead. She destroyed the bulwarks of enmity and ushered in peace. And did throw open the kingdom Wherefore, in that we possess this confirmation of our faith, we gave a defender, even the Lord who was born of her. Be bold, therefore, be bold, ye people of God, for He, the All-powerful, will vanquish all your enemies.
Beautiful. I just memorized this psalm, now I just need to sing alongside you both in the video!

Absolutely beautiful singing i cant express it, heavenly
From Psalms 141, 142, 130, and 117. Glory to God! Thank you to the chanters, Lisa A, and everyone who commented; we worship our Radiant Triune Godhead together in Spirit and Truth!
Is this a psalm?
Something wrong with this man's voice....z
Hi Lisa! My name is Lisa too! Your book is absolutely beautiful! I recently stumbled upon Charlotte Mason and was thrilled when I heard about your book. Although, I do not homeschool I do have a family daycare (your nieces Nadeema and Emma were in my care when they were infants and toddlers) and my grandchildren participate in my daycare so your book is helping me to not only educate them but to share the Orthodox faith with them. Thank you for all the hard work you and Laura put into this amazing piece of work!! God bless!
I'm so glad it has been a blessing to you! I remember my sister telling me how wonderful you were with her girls 😊 God bless!
Beautiful
Love it!!!
This isn’t the first tone, is it? Isn’t it plagal first? 👀
It's definitely the first tone, not plagal.
@orthodoxmindandheart I am an octavist at my church. The bass was pretty good. I am curious what this would sound like with an octavist singing it. I know they are rare in the United States. My range is A0 to E4. I am only 21, so my voice hasn't fully matured. At 40 years old is when a low bass is at peak performance.

Beautiful! Christ is Risen!
Truly He is Risen!
Great job kids! The power emulating from your voices is fantastic as well. ThE Angel Cried is a beautiful hymn. You did a wonderful job with that hymn. I look forward to hearing another one presented.God Bless
Christ is risen! A glorious Pascha to you! When you can, please post the words in the description of this video. So, that we can sing along on Lazarus Saturday every year.
Will do! Not sure when, but I'll make sure I get it done eventually.
I had a chance to do it much sooner than expected! The words are now in the description.
So very beautiful! Christ is truly in our midst. Thank you.❤
Any way ads can be taken off this video?
I don't know how to do that. If there's a way, and anybody knows it and wants to share, I'm all ears! But as of right now, I don't think I can.
St. George Orthodox Church Search On the Psalms before Holy Communion. Psalm 22 Psalm 22. LXX The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. In green pastures he makes me a home, he nourishes me beside still water. He uplifts my soul, he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Though I walk in the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest me a table in my persecutors’ presence, thou anointest my head with oil, and the cup thou givest me to drink - how supremely good it is! And thy mercy shall pursue me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the Lord’s house for the length of my days. The good shepherd and guide of my soul, The fullness of all things. My heart, hollow, overflows Being drawn by you. Spring green Erupts beside sweet water, Rooted within immortal life. Having seen, In a single moment my soul was changed, Led into the sweetness of your name - Jesus, Savior and sure footing. Sure footing in grief, in shadows, in night. In hell, Where evil wields a sharp knife And bears its fangs. So I would obey it. But in your presence the blade is revealed as wax And I am freed from damning bondage. Iron fetters dissolving into mist. O Meek shepherd of my soul, there is no need for you to strike - Destroy evil with a glance! O great and enduring comfort! A table is let down from heaven, A gift heavier than the world entire With bread and wine - Your own flesh and blood. A table that endures meekly all the assaults of the enemy, Withstanding them with joy. Partaking of these holy things Restores a bright countenance, A gift to look you in the eye with flashing love. Your mercy pursues, and waits, like the father for his wasteful son. You created a house, Asking only that I make it my home. The length of my days is too short a time Lord, may it be for eternity.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
OK, I am a little envious that you have a canon that rhymes and has meter and is also in English. usually I don't see those three combined. Definitely will share
I have been listening to this channel since I started my inquiry into orthodoxy a couple years ago. It never even occurred to me to subscribe. I fixed that today :) I was received into the church by holy baptism last Pascha. This is absolutely beautiful. It is also awesome that it is a homeschool choir. I was homeschooled
Beautiful... what tone is this?
Plagal of tone 1 (aka tone 5)
Heavenly!!!
Thank you for this Chant with all sincerity. It is now one of my favorites. I will gives it thousands of views if God allows me 😊
This is my favorite song!
Bravo
Tears. The Gift of Tears. Matthew 18:3-6 Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Beautiful work
I was born protestant and I became instead a worshiper of rock n roll and do as thou wilt philosophy and now that I'm an old broken fool and seen Orthodoxy and Catholicism via the internet and after losing something that took a lifetime, it tore my soul in half in awe and respect for The Lord
You should check out the Byzantine-Catholic church!
@@TheChristianFairy 😻
That's great. You could start with the Douay Rheims Bible and the church fathers and Baltimore catechism.
@@tinag7506 - I appreciate you. Perhaps you could pray for a prodigal I know? Thank U
@@orthocatsr.8723 I hope you get to know an orthodox parish near you. Orthodoxy is life.
I wish I had a husband
Not a good wish. But if you can not control your desires of passion it is better to find one,
Pray for the correct helpmeet and wait patiently on the Lord.
Lord Jesus Christ son of God have mercy on me a sinner
Evlogeite! This is extremely beautiful! Is there any chance you could please do this exact same melody but with the HTM translation of this text? I am am trying to learn this melody for my Vesper services at home but I am not that gifted. I am only able to memorize a melody if the text I'm reading is 100% the same as the one I'm hearing. Forgive me if this is asking too much from you. God be with you!
I'm really not sure if we will be recording anything else. If we do though, I will do my best to see if we can use the HTM translation.
@@orthodoxmindandheart Thank you so kindly! A blessed Lent to you!
Thank you for uploading this.
Is there any chance you could please share the sheet music for this?

I was scared for a second that your channel was dead/inactive...glory to God!
I was at a Greek Orthodox Chruch in the San Francisco area the priest chanted this. It was my first time hearing this chant.
A wonderful discovery for me , Prokimenon as chanted on the first Sunday of Great Kent , then concludes with the great Pentecost . Begins and ends a wonderful season for all Orthodox Christians
Glory to god the theotokos
Glory to god and every saint
This is beautiful, thank you! Where may I find the score?
I have been hunting for female chanters, and to discover who this pure voice belongs to, and I believe that this chanter is Gigi Baba Shadid from the Antiochian Church and she has her own channel here on RUclips called Gigi Baba.
It's actually not Gigi, but she is one of the people who first taught me how to chant many years ago. :-)
Does anyone know the name of the man (I think he is a priest) who is singing with her?
He is a reader and the lead chanter in our parish, Anthony Harmon.
@@orthodoxmindandheart Wonderful, thank you so much. Your parish is blessed!
Pray the Lord shall grant unto them the gift of grace to love, honor, and to serve in the ministries they are called. - Ask the Lord to keep them, bless and reward the work of their hands in 2022, that they all may be a living witness unto the Lord.💝🇬🇷
God bless you…. and your good works.
